St Lucia Airport Guide
Saint Lucia has two airports on the island; Hewanorra International Airport in Vieux-Fort is the largest gateway, which serves international departures, while smaller George F.L. Charles operates domestic routes. Flying times to St Lucia on a direct flight from London Gatwick takes around 9 hours. The airport of Hewanorra has a one east-westerly runway. To help plan your trip, our St. Lucia airport guide provides details on what to expect when flying to and from the tropical destination of St Lucia.
Arriving in St Lucia
Many flights are scheduled for arrival in close proximity, which means it can get very busy, especially at baggage reclaim. If you haven’t already planned transport to your hotel, there is a selection of taxis lining up directly outside arrivals. It is advisable to agree a price before setting off. Regular bus services run to Vieux-Fort, stopping on the main road across from the airport.
Transfer Times
Hewanorra Airport is located 4km outside Vieux-Fort on the south of St Lucia and 56km from capital city of Castries. Transfers up to northern holiday resorts can take approximately an hour by road in good traffic conditions.
Return journey
Airport opening times are between 06:00-23:00hours. Check-in usually opens 3 hours before travel, so make sure you arrive in plenty of time to check in your luggage and pass through security. Remember all liquids over 100ml or sharp objects must be packed in your hold luggage.
