Antigua Airport Guide
VC Bird International Airport is situated 8km from St John’s, the capital city of Antigua and Berbuda. Direct flights operate out of London Gatwick with a flying duration of approximately eight and half hours. Our Antigua airport guide has some help and advice for planning your travel itinerary.
Arriving at Antigua
GOnce luggage is collected, head out of the exit, where you will find plenty of taxis lined up to take you straight to your hotel or apartment. There is nothing better than first hand recommendations so a top tip is to make the most of your short journey by finding out more about the local area and good places to visit from your driver on the way.
Transfer times
The island of Antigua is only 14 miles long and 11 miles wide so leaving the airport is a quick and easy journey to all areas. The furthest resorts would take no more than a 30 minute drive. Taxis are readily available from outside arrivals and fares are usually fixed but do confirm this first.
Return journey
It’s recommended arriving at check-in at least 2-3 hours before departure. Should any special help such as wheelchair assistance be required, speak to your advisor at check-in, who will happily arrange this for boarding. Make sure all liquids over 100ml are safety stored in any hold luggage as security control will confiscate any goods over allowance.
Facilities in departures
Once security checks have been passed, VC Bird International Airport has a variety of shops selling items such as perfumeries and clothes. Take advantage of these last minute shopping opportunities to pick up some gifts or souvenirs. If you feel a little peckish head over to Big Banana restaurant or Zodiac Bar. For currency requirements there is an ATM and bureau de change services.
Official IATA code is ANU.
